Information about this channel: ESPN (an acronym for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) is the Latin American subsidiary of that subscription television service of American origin specialized in sports. It is owned by ESPN Inc (The Walt Disney Company/Hearst) and is operated by The Walt Disney Company Latin America, being available throughout Latin America. ESPN began its television broadcasts in Latin America on a trial basis on September 15, 1988 and officially on March 31, 1989. In 2009, the channel celebrated 20 years on the air in the region. That same year, the high-definition channel ESPN HD was launched with programming different from the channel's standard signals. This signal changed its name to ESPN+ in 2015. In 2020, it changed its name again to ESPN Extra. In 2013, ESPN changed its image and debuted a new logo (only for South America). In 2016, the channel changes its aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 on all its standard definition signals. On November 9, 2020 (South America only), the channel returns to the original logo after 7 years and 8 months, including the new graphics.
